The 30 km category starts and finishes in front of Opus Plaza at the Taiheizan ski area, at the foot of Mt. Taihei, the symbol of Akita City. The course drops to Kanayama Falls, climbs back toward Maedake, returns to the venue via Opus Top and then loops around the venue area to the finish. There are three aid stations: Kanayama Falls, Opus Top and Hana Koen.
The course tops out at 714 m (low point 39 m). The main climb comes early on: 674 m around 9–15 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade).
