From Ürgüp in Turkey's UNESCO-listed Cappadocia, the course visits İbrahimpaşa, Uçhisar, Göreme and Çavuşin, running through the valleys and high ground of Göreme National Park among its 'fairy chimney' rock towers.
The course tops out at 1,471 m (low point 1,026 m). The main climb comes right from the start: 390 m around 0–13 km. About 50% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). The median finish was about 10 h.
