A mountain 100-miler from Irihirose in Uonuma, Niigata, crossing Sumon-dake's Otake summit on the way out and back and reaching as far as Yagigahana. Because it passes a special protection zone of a quasi-national park, it starts on a Friday to avoid weekend crowds; much of the course has no phone coverage.
The course tops out at 1,535 m (low point 76 m). There are 3 big climbs: 1,203 m around 10–23 km; 1,085 m around 54–63 km; 1,339 m around 117–146 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 32% of starters finished — a tough one. The median finish was about 42 h, through 2 nights.
