From Oguni Forest Park in Nagaoka, Niigata, the route heads east over Oguni Pass and Shiroyama to Tokimizu and Hakusan Sports Park in Ojiya, and west to the summit of Mt. Hachikoku, Oguni's highest peak, following old paths that once linked the villages, with constant small ups and downs.
