A one-way route through Fuji's foothills from Fujisan Kodomo-no-Kuni through forests, the Tenshi range and Aokigahara, then over the steep late-race peaks such as Mt. Shakushi to Fuji Hokuroku Park. In 2027 poles are allowed on a trial basis from F5 onward.
The course tops out at 1,631 m (low point 492 m). There are 3 big climbs: 1,074 m around 24–41 km; 550 m around 49–60 km; 639 m around 151–155 km. About 50% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 70% of starters finished. The median finish was about 40 h, through 2 nights.
