Starting and finishing in Happo, Hakuba village, Nagano, the course tours the village via Iwatake, Okaru-no-ana, Oide Park, the Hakuba Green Sports Forest and the ski jump stadium. It includes some public roads and sections shared with mountain bikes, and runners are warned about bees every year.
The course tops out at 1,279 m (low point 642 m). There are 3 big climbs: 537 m around 0–7 km; 412 m around 20–28 km; 507 m around 36–46 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 89% of starters finished. The median finish was about 9 h.
