A one-way December race that starts at Matsuzaki port on the Izu Peninsula's west coast and crosses the peninsula's mountains via Nishina Pass and Toi to finish at Shuzenji Onsen, built around the idea of journeying through Izu from the sea to the trails.
The course tops out at 1,035 m (low point 1 m). There are 3 big climbs: 795 m around 0–14 km; 606 m around 27–37 km; 403 m around 50–55 km. About 30% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2025, 57% of starters finished — a tough one. The median finish was about 12 h.
