A UTMB World Series race launched in 2025. Starting in the evening from Yamanaka Onsen, a 1,300-year-old spa town, it links the Kaga mountains through the night: beech forest, streamside trails and steep climbs, via Kutani Dam and Kenmin no Mori, back to Yamanaka-za in town.
The course tops out at 1,367 m (low point 37 m). There are 4 big climbs: 442 m around 0–9 km; 747 m around 12–21 km; 1,198 m around 27–50 km; 443 m around 71–77 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 75% of starters finished. The median finish was about 23 h, through one night.
