Starting and finishing in Ürgüp in Turkey's UNESCO-listed Cappadocia, the race links high plateaus and valleys. It threads the valleys of Göreme National Park past Uçhisar, Göreme and Çavuşin among the 'fairy chimney' rock towers, then heads out on a long extension toward Taşkınpaşa.
The course tops out at 1,599 m (low point 1,027 m). There are 2 big climbs: 390 m around 0–14 km; 522 m around 63–83 km. About 50% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). The median finish was about 19 h, through one night.
