KYOTO GREAT ROUND 80K 2026
Also known as: KGR160K · KGR 160K · KGR80K · KGR 80K · KGR MID · KYOTO GREAT ROUND 80km
KYOTO GREAT ROUND is a year-end long-trail series built on the Kyoto Isshu Trail, linking the ridges of Higashiyama, Kitayama and Nishiyama. Courses are unmarked: runners navigate with the official GPX. The 80K runs one way from Nagisa Park in Otsu over Kyoto's mountains to the Hozu River bank in Kameoka; most runners finish late at night.
The course tops out at 792 m (low point 35 m). There are 4 big climbs: 379 m around 0–8 km; 695 m around 12–19 km; 334 m around 38–42 km; 371 m around 63–71 km. The longest descent drops 589 m around 24 km at about 16% on average. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2025, 53% of starters finished — a tough one. The median finish was about 17 h, through one night.
