Starting and finishing at Restaurant Heidi at Madarao Kogen ski area in Iiyama, Nagano, the 50 km course links the summits of Mt. Madarao, Mt. Hakama and Mt. Kenashi with lakes such as Kibo-ko and Akaike, wetlands and beech forest. About 93% of it is trail. Produced by trail runner Hiroki Ishikawa, the event has been held since 2007.
The course tops out at 1,300 m (low point 712 m). There are 2 big climbs: 588 m around 12–20 km; 308 m around 26–30 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2025, 79% of starters finished. The median finish was about 8 h.
