Starting at night from Dajingmen in Zhangjiakou, Hebei, the course passes a string of natural and cultural sights: the Anjiagou eco-tourism area, a Siberian tiger breeding base, the Qinghe film and TV town, the Goddess of Water Palace and West Taiping Mountain Park. The 2026 edition also added grassland and pasture trails.
The course tops out at 1,272 m (low point 796 m). There are 2 big climbs: 343 m around 0–10 km; 343 m around 33–44 km. About 50% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 93% of starters finished. The median finish was about 14 h, through one night.
