Leaves the center of Courmayeur and climbs quickly to around 2,500m, facing Mont Blanc and the Grandes Jorasses, then crosses into Switzerland over the Grand Col Ferret. It passes La Fouly, Champex and Trient, enters France at Vallorcine and climbs above it before the finish in Chamonix. It is the 100K final of the UTMB World Series.
The course tops out at 2,556 m (low point 501 m). There are 4 big climbs: 1,335 m around 0–9 km; 757 m around 26–31 km; 1,039 m around 70–78 km; 780 m around 79–84 km. About 30% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). The median finish was about 22 h, through one night.
