A loop from Zhaohua Ancient Town in northern Sichuan via Niutou Village and the Dachao post station. Steep stretches of the old road that Li Bai lamented in 'The Hard Road to Shu' alternate with flowing runnable trail, past Three Kingdoms battlefields and post-road relics.
The course tops out at 1,131 m (low point 457 m). There are 2 big climbs: 636 m around 0–9 km; 517 m around 17–21 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2025, 99% of starters finished. The median finish was about 9 h.
