KYOTO GREAT ROUND is a year-end long-trail series built on the Kyoto Isshu Trail, linking the ridges of Higashiyama, Kitayama and Nishiyama. Courses are unmarked: runners navigate with the official GPX. The 70K is the night category: it starts after dark on the Hozu River bank in Kameoka and crosses the mountains by headlamp on its way to Nagisa Park in Otsu.
The course tops out at 662 m (low point 8 m). There are 4 big climbs: 573 m around 0–14 km; 574 m around 43–50 km; 437 m around 54–60 km; 472 m around 63–64 km. About 50% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2025, 79% of starters finished. The median finish was about 15 h, through one night.
