The only race of the event that does not start in Cortina: from Val Marzon near Auronzo di Cadore it passes right beneath the north faces of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo and crosses the heart of the Dolomites to finish in central Cortina d'Ampezzo.
The course tops out at 2,459 m (low point 1,015 m). There are 4 big climbs: 1,444 m around 0–11 km; 604 m around 21–32 km; 949 m around 40–51 km; 441 m around 57–60 km. About 30% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). The median finish was about 15 h, through one night.
