Two laps of the loop from the Hachikita Onsen 'Tojino Sato' bathhouse in Kami, Hyogo, over Mt. Hachibuse and Mt. Torogawa and through the Mikata and Towano highlands. The course mixes forest roads, trail and pavement, and the second half of lap two runs after dark.
The course tops out at 1,220 m (low point 510 m). 6 climbs of 300 m or more keep coming; the biggest is 489 m around 0–5 km. Only about 30% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending. In 2025, 85% of starters finished. The median finish was about 13 h, through one night.
