From Pangururan on Samosir Island in Lake Toba, the course climbs Pusuk Buhit (about 1,960 m) and then visits villages such as Sianjur Mulamula, Ginolat and Bonan Dolok, with big lake views and a strong link to Batak heritage.
The course tops out at 1,966 m (low point 902 m). There are 3 big climbs: 1,059 m around 0–13 km; 621 m around 23–29 km; 610 m around 36–41 km. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 85% of starters finished. The median finish was about 16 h, through one night.
