A one-way run from the former Kami-Shikimi Elementary School in Takamori to the Aspecta outdoor theater. It crosses Takamori Pass and the constantly rolling South Aso outer caldera rim, finishing under views of the Five Peaks of Aso. The event is run to help preserve Aso's grasslands.
The course tops out at 1,013 m (low point 443 m). The longest descent drops 570 m around 22 km at about 14% on average. About 40% of the distance is gentle (under 5% grade). In 2026, 100% of starters finished. The median finish was about 5 h.
