Begun in 1999, this is one of Japan's pioneering trail races and a traditional season opener. From Nagayama Park near JR Ome Station, the advanced course heads into the Ome hills to Jofukuin temple on Mt. Takamizu and back.

The course

The course tops out at 719 m (low point 218 m). The main climb comes mid-race: 372 m around 9–11 km. Only about 20% is gentle (under 5% grade); most of it is climbing or descending.
